How is the Suncoast Parkway changing Citrus County?
The parkway reached Citrus County in stages. WUSF reported in August 2025 that the segment from State Road 44 to Norvell Bryant Highway opened 500 days early: "It's only three miles from State Road 44 to Norvell Bryant Highway." The same report said the next section, "The $244 million project from C.R. 486 to C.R. 495 began in mid-August and will continue for at least five years," and that the plan would "extend Suncoast Parkway about 10 miles from C.R. 486 to U.S. 19."[9]
For the final section, Florida's Turnpike Enterprise lists work "expected to continue through late 2031," including "constructing a new interchange at U.S. 19."[10][11] If you are buying land near a planned interchange, ask for the agency's current schedule and right-of-way maps for that segment before you price in the access.
What industrial land is Citrus County preparing?

At the Inverness Airport, the county approved "an $8.83 million construction contract for Phase 2" of the 75-acre Inverness Airport Business-Industrial Park, funded through "a $9 million Florida Commerce grant," with completion "expected in the first quarter of 2027, according to county officials," the Chronicle reported in December 2025; ask for the current schedule. It also reported that "Livewire Aviation is relocating its main headquarters to a new corporate hangar and heliport facility" there.[8]
The county's economic development office lists its top industries as "Advanced Manufacturing Aerospace and Aviation Professional Services Healthcare Emerging Industries."[6]
What does Citrus County commercial space rent for?
We could not verify a public office, retail or industrial rent or vacancy series for Citrus County in our October 2026 research, so this page publishes none. For a real number on a specific building, ask for a property-level analysis using recent comparable leases.
What this means for owners, buyers and tenants
If you own land near the Suncoast Parkway corridor or U.S. 41 north of Inverness, ask how the published schedules for the parkway and the Holder park wastewater line affect the timing of a sale.
If you are a business looking for space, compare a city address with an unincorporated one on the full tax bill, not just the rent.
